Update: 12:30 pm PST; 9:30pm Oslo – Oslo Airport issued the following statement on its website: “Norwegian police have ordered extended border-controls. This means that all passengers arriving or leaving on international flights in Norway, must show a valid ID to enter the country. All flights are operating as planned. Please allow some extra time for extended security and passport controls. Rail traffic to and from Oslo is currently stopped. More information at Flytoget.no and the airport buses websites. Updated: 9.15 PM.”

Update: 9:49AM PST; 6:49pm Oslo – the BBC is now reporting that Oslo Central Station has been closed.  Oslo Central is a major bus and rail location leading to points north and south of the city, including Oslo Airport in nearby Gardermoen.

There are news reports coming in of a large explosion in Oslo, Norway.  The BBC reports Norwegian police are urging people to leave Central Oslo for the meantime, but no word as of yet as to how that affects tourists staying in central Oslo hotels or arriving via cruise ship.

CruiseCritic reports that one ship, MSC Orchestra, was in port at the time, but has since left the city.  The cruise line told CruiseCritic that all passengers arrived back at the ship safely.

Arrivals and departures from Oslo International Airport continue without delay at this time.

Passengers due to travel to or from Oslo in the next few days should monitor the latest news reports.
