Live Voyage Recap: Silversea’s Silver Spirit in the Med

In May 2011, I had the opportunity to sail aboard one of my hands-down favorite ships: Silversea‘s elegant and luxurious flagship, the 2009-built Silver Spirit, on a weeklong voyage from Athens, Greece to Barcelona, Spain.

And I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Greece was where I first discovered my passion for world travel nearly twelve years ago, and the opportunity to find myself once again gazing up at the Acropolis in Athens was a sort of homecoming for me. But Athens was just the start of our immersive voyage to the Med.

One of Silversea’s greatest strengths is blending itineraries that call on a mix of popular and off-the-beaten path ports of call with the ultra-luxurious yet unpretentious atmosphere onboard. Even on the 540-guest Silver Spirit, there’s no waiting in lines, few announcements, and plenty of amazing little touches that are guaranteed to impress. My shoes were shined before I even knew they needed to be. A champagne bubblebath was drawn for us. And service was friendly, genuine and outstanding.

If that’s not the definition of true luxury, I don’t know what is!
