Guests aboard Silverseas Silver Cloud were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this past Wednesday: a sail up the River Thames and into the heart of London, just as the city gears up to host the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Passing under the iconic Tower Bridge adorned with the Olympics’ trademark multi-colored rings, Silver Cloud moored next to HMS Belfast, a Royal Navy light cruiser built in 1936 and installed permanently here since 1971.

Silversea was kind enough to share three spectacular photos of her call on London with From the Deck Chair, and they’re making us want to hop a flight to the UK!

At just 514 feet in length and carrying 296 guests, Silver Cloud is one of a select handful of ships that are actually small enough to sail up the River Thames and into the heart of London, eliminating the need for passengers to travel to the more-southerly ports of Southampton, Dover and Portsmouth to embark their cruise.

While sailing under Tower Bridge on the eve of the Olympic Games was a special occasion indeed, there are still plenty of voyages aboard this classy ultra-luxury ship that begin or end right in the heart of London.

Here’s a peek at some of the voyages that are available aboard Silver Cloud that call on central London in 2012 and 2013:

Sailing from the heart of London, under the Tower Bridge aboard one of the coziest ships in the Silversea fleet? Sounds like music to our ears!
