Summer is upon us, and everyone is cruising, especially our writers here at Avid Cruiser.
Geoff Edwards is traveling on Crystal Serenity with his brother. If you don’t know Geoff, you should look him up on Wikipedia. He’s had an amazing career in television and radio, and he’s one of my favorite writers. I never fail to laugh out loud when reading Geoff’s stories. Is he really 81?
You can read Geoff’s posts from Crystal Serenity at the links below and continue following his voyage on Avid Cruiser. I know I look forward to each day’s entry.
Wallace Immen continues to put together his impressions of Avalon Waterways‘ new Vista, which he recently sailed in the Netherlands. I’m certainly intrigued by this new vessel after reading Wallace’s report.

It’s hard to imagine a more enthusiastic cruiser than Aaron Saunders, who is cruising in the British Isles on Silver Explorer. Like Wallace, Aaron snaps some inspiring photographs. You can follow Aaron on From The Deck Chair, hosted by Avid Cruiser, or catch up to him by clicking on the links below. If you find one of Aaron’s posts without a martini photo, please let me know. I think it’s his signature cocktail.

Me? I’m reliving my experience on French Country Waterways each day this week. That was one memorable trip, a barge adventure through Burgundy. You can catch up and join me on my journey, which continues through the week, by clicking on the links below.

I’m also planning for my next trip, cruising the Gota Canal across Sweden on a ship that claims to be the oldest still in regular service. Juno was built in 1874, and I can’t wait for my four-day cruise on her with my 17-year-old daughter. Before setting sail, we have five days in Stockholm before beginning our trip to Gothenburg. We’ll consult Avid Cruiser’s Stockholm Cruise Blog to help us plan our five days in one of my favorite cities. If you’re planning a trip to Sweden’s capital city, you may find it useful too.
We’d love to hear from other avid cruisers. What are your plans for the coming summer?

Cruising aboard HAL Veendam from New York to Bermuda and return in July. Wanted to enjoy this old classic cruise itinerary before HAL ends it with this season. Also, cruising from NYC to Quebec City and back in September aboard HAL Eurodam. Great times at-sea just ahead!
Sounds great! You’ll have to give us your impressions of cruising into and out of NYC. Bon voyage!
We’re cruising to England on the HAL Ryndam (our 3rd time on this ship), spending 5 days in England, flying (first class, thanks to points) to Istanbul to meet our Uniworld cruise to Amsterdam. Our kids will join the river cruise in Vienna—we’re looking forward to that a lot! We’ll finish in Amsterdam on a houseboat (stationery) for 4 days before flying home. What a life!
Wonderful Pamela! We’d love to hear about your experiences when you’re done with your travel. Bon voyage!
If you’re interested, I have a blog I am intermittently writing (more regular when we get closer to leaving ) at http://pamryanstravels.blogspot.com/
I like it. Will you please come back before you leave so that we can give your blog the spotlight?
Soon as Christmas is over I will get into REALLY planning our spring/summer cruising!
